Pre-Move-In Instructions: Bagging & Labeling Belongings for Inspection

To protect the safety, hygiene, and comfort of everyone in the home, all incoming residents are required to prepare their belongings for inspection and sanitation. This is a mandatory step before move-in.

What to Do Before Arrival:

  1. Use Clear Plastic Bags or Luggage

    • All personal items (clothing, linens, toiletries, shoes, etc.) must be packed in clear plastic bags if possible.

    • If using luggage or duffel bags, please limit to two bags and avoid overpacking to allow for a proper search and sanitation.

  2. Label Every Bag or Item

    • Use masking tape, luggage tags, or a permanent marker to label each bag with:
      Resident's Full Name + Move-In Date
      (Example: John Doe – 4/25/2025)

    • For loose items (shoes, hygiene kits, books), place them in a labeled gallon-size Ziploc bag.

  3. Bag Laundry Separately

    • Any clothing or linens that have not been freshly laundered must be packed in a separate bag and clearly marked “DIRTY LAUNDRY.”

    • We will heat-treat all clothing and linens in a commercial dryer to prevent introduction of bedbugs or lice. Residents may not opt out of this process.

  4. Medications & Valuables

    • Prescription medications should be packed in a separate, clearly marked bag and must remain in original containers with labels.

    • Valuables (phones, wallets, IDs, chargers) must also be separated and handed directly to staff upon arrival for temporary safekeeping during inspection.

  5. Do Not Pack Prohibited Items

    • Leave the following at home or dispose of before arrival:

      • Drugs, alcohol, paraphernalia (even if unused)

      • Weapons or sharp objects

      • Candles, incense, or lighters

      • Unlabeled or expired medications

      • Food or beverages
